Tutor for Teen Students – Part-time

Position Summary Summer Teen Tutoring program... Certified teachers are needed for a Summertime Teen Tutoring Program at Paterson and Passaic locations to provides age-appropriate tutoring to help teen students advance in their academic path to reach the grade level standards. Tutoring will be provided to Teens that need individual and/or small group tutoring. Tutoring will happen at the both the Paterson and Passaic Clubhouses, 4 days a week - 1 hour per day. Preferable times: 11:00 am-12:00 noon or 1:00 pm-2:00 pm The Boys & Girls Club of Paterson and Passaic seeks tutors who share a willingness and a commitment to working with Teens through patience, preparation, and flexibility. Experience as a tutor with proficiency in math and reading is preferred. Key Job Responsibilities: • Establish and maintain appropriate standards of behavior and create a positive learning environment that shows a commitment to students and their successes. • Design and deliver instruction to students and engage students in meeting the objectives of the lesson. • Monitor students’ understanding of the lesson and adjust teaching when appropriate • Ensures safety of Teens, demonstrates positive values, and ethical behavior through quality in programs • Maintains positive relationships with Teens, their parents and/or guardians. • Displays a high level of enthusiasm and commitment for activities • Maintains accurate program and attendance records and submits them in a timely manner • Performs other related duties as assigned by management staff Requirements: Preferred Experience & Education: • Graduate from an accredited college or university • Certified Teacher with up to date teaching credentials • Proficient in English, Language Arts and Mathematics • Demonstrated knowledge in the use of technology to support teaching and learning • Demonstrated competence in content areas of reading and mathematics • Strong communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to work independently • Familiarity with after-school enrichment programming • Demonstrated cultural competency in working with a diverse population The Boys & Girls Clubs of Paterson and Passaic is an equal opportunity employer, committed to inclusion and diversity.
