The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music's Department of Music Industry is seeking a part-time Lecturer in Finance & Accounting for the 2023-24 academic year. As a Lecturer, you will have the opportunity to teach and inspire students who are pursuing careers in the music industry. Position Overview The part-time Lecturer in Finance & Accounting will be responsible for teaching a two-quarter sequence of courses in Finance and Accounting for the Music Industry. The courses are designed to introduce business principles and practices to first- and second-year Music Industry majors. As a Lecturer, you will be expected to communicate complex financial concepts to students with varying levels of quantitative skill. Key Responsibilities: Teach a two-quarter sequence of courses in Finance and Accounting for the Music Industry Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, assignments, and assessments Provide individual student teaching supervision and support Communicate financial principles and techniques to music students not specializing in finance Work with students possessing differing levels of quantitative skill Participate in departmental meetings and events Qualifications and Requirements Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., finance, accounting, music business) Professional experience in finance and accounting (or a related field) Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, including budgeting, financial analysis, and financial reporting Excellent communication and teaching skills Preferred Qualifications: Graduate degree in Music Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field Relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) Experience in the music industry Experience teaching or lecturing at the university level What We Offer Competitive Salary and Benefits: The salary range for this position is $66,259 - $89,046 per year, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
