Job description: SUMMARY: Provides intensive support to novice ESOL teachers. Provides assistance in the development and implementation of the Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) ESOL curriculum and instructional program. Ensures that all initiatives support the system-wide goals identified in the system's strategic plan. Performs other duties as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education, Training, and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree. Three years of successful ESOL teaching experience. Experience in developing curriculum and designing and implementing professional development. Master's degree preferred.

Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Maryland Professional Certificate with an endorsement in ESOL. Maryland Advanced Professional Certificate preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Thorough knowledge of second language acquisition and ESOL.
Knowledge of current research-based instructional practices in ESOL.
Technology facility and understanding of the role of technology in the ESOL classroom.
Knowledge of and skill in the use of database, internet, spreadsheet, word processing, and related applications.
Knowledge of and skill in data analysis especially in student achievement and gap analysis.
Demonstration of outstanding oral and written communications skills.
Demonstration of strong leadership, communication, and human relations skills.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The work of this class is generally sedentary and is generally performed in an office or classroom environment. Work includes the operation of office equipment, including personal computers, and occasional limited physical activities. This position generally involves extensive travel throughout Baltimore County, meeting with school staff, presentations, and observing or teaching classes.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Work may include evenings.
**This is a grant funded position, contingent upon annual renewal. As such, you will be required to sign an acknowledgement form with the understanding that if the grant is not funded beyond the current year, you will be reassigned to a position based upon the stipulations within the appropriate Master Agreement that is in effect at the time of the reassignment.
