Job Title: Volunteer Expert in Carbon Sequestration Modeling Location: Remote Position Type: Volunteer, Part-Time (Flexible Hours) About Us: Delta Rising Foundation accelerates science-based systemic solutions as we evolve the art of sustainable culture. We are seeking a dedicated Volunteer Expert in Carbon Sequestration Modeling to guide our efforts as we build gold standard accurate models. This role is central to understanding and modeling the carbon sequestration capacity of different tree species, which will help inform and scale our sustainability initiatives. Key Responsibilities: • Provide expertise in carbon sequestration modeling methodologies and frameworks. • Help identify, source, and work with the Data Science team to organize the datasets (e.g., tree growth rates, biomass density, carbon capture factors by species, soil data, and climate variables). • Advise on the selection and development of modeling tools or platforms for accurate carbon accounting. • Collaborate with our team to design clear, science-based outputs that can be communicated to partners and stakeholders. • Mentor the team on best practices and evolving standards in carbon sequestration modeling. Requirements: • Demonstrated experience in carbon sequestration modeling, forestry, environmental science, or a related field, and the desire to continue to develop expertise with a community of AI professionals.. • Experience working with datasets related to tree species, biomass, soil carbon, or ecosystem services. • Ability to translate scientific models into actionable insights for program development. • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in a remote, interdisciplinary team environment. Preferred Skills: • Proficiency with modeling tools or programming languages (e.g., R, Python, GIS-based tools). • Familiarity with global carbon standards, registries, and verification frameworks. • Background in ecological data collection, data management, or open-source datasets. • Passion for climate solutions, reforestation, and nature-based carbon strategies.
