Junior SEO Specialist (2-3 years experience), US workers only
Fully remote. Must reside and be certified to work in the United States. The SEO Specialist supports the execution and ongoing management of SEO programs across multiple client accounts. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, responsible for implementing SEO best practices, identifying technical and on-page issues, contributing to SEO scoping audits, and producing high-quality SEO-driven content. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in general SEO, is comfortable identifying problems and opportunities across websites, and has a particular strength in SEO copywriting and content optimization. Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare or behavioral health is a plus, though training will be provided. This role is designed to take on a significant portion of day-to-day SEO execution, allowing senior team members to focus on strategy and growth. STATUS AND SALARY: Full time salaried employee. Salary base determined with regards to experience, education, and job title upon hire. Salary range $48,000 - $56,000, plus competitive benefits. RESPONSIBILITIES: SEO Execution & Analysis • Assist with and contribute to SEO scoping and audits, identifying technical, on-page, and content-related issues. • Review websites for SEO best practices, including site structure, internal linking, indexability, page performance, and content gaps. • Document findings clearly and consistently, with the ability to work from established templates or spreadsheets. • Implement on-page SEO updates, including meta tags, header structures, internal links, and content optimizations. • Support technical SEO initiatives in collaboration with senior SEO and web teams. SEO Copywriting & Content • Write and optimize SEO-focused website copy, landing pages, blog content, and meta descriptions. • Refresh and improve existing content to better align with keyword intent and SEO best practices. • Collaborate on content strategies that balance search performance with user experience and compliance needs. • Apply on-page SEO principles consistently across new and existing content. Reporting & Optimization • Review performance data in Google Analytics and Google Search Console to support ongoing optimizations. • Assist in identifying trends, opportunities, and issues related to organic traffic and rankings. • Support monthly reporting and documentation as needed. Collaboration & Process • Work closely with internal SEO, design, and account teams to ensure SEO recommendations are implemented accurately. • Maintain tasks, documentation, and time tracking within FunctionPoint. • Follow established SEO processes while contributing ideas to improve workflows and efficiency. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE: Required · 2-3 years of experience in an agency environment or freelancing with marketing clients as an SEO specialist • Strong understanding of general SEO best practices, including on-page, technical, and content SEO • Experience identifying SEO issues and opportunities across websites • Comfortable working with audits, checklists, and spreadsheets to document findings • Experience using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, SEMrush, and/or Ahrefs • Familiarity with WordPress or similar CMS platforms • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write or optimize SEO-focused content • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while managing multiple tasks Preferred (Not Required) • Strength or special interest in SEO copywriting and content marketing • Experience working with healthcare, behavioral health, or other regulated industries • Familiarity with HIPAA considerations (training provided) • Basic understanding of HTML and technical SEO concepts Miscellaneous · Responds to and manages tasks in FunctionPoint as assigned per project and client, including task completion and smooth hand-off of projects and assignment of tasks to next responsible party. · Daily completion of timesheets that account for all work performed on behalf of the agency. · Participates in A-Train staff meetings and other events as requested/assigned. · Performs other duties as assigned. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Work environment: This is a fully remote position. Candidate will be responsible for providing their work environment, including basic desk/chair/work area setup. Travel to client locations may be required on occasion. Adequate transportation required (car) and ability to be mobile, traveling to appointments, events, training, etc. as needed.
