Laboratory Genetics Counselor II
About the position Responsibilities • Assist in data analysis and interpretation of genetic test results. • Evaluate test orders to ensure proper test utilization and management. • Provide clinical laboratory testing consultation to hospital staff. • Analyze laboratory data and input report information into the laboratory information system. • Provide billing information to providers, including pricing and CPT codes. • Guide and educate staff on order placement within the hospital information system. • Review provider orders and contact them to ensure criteria are met for test requests.• Select appropriate referral laboratories for genetic testing. • Review relevant literature related to genetic counseling and medical genetics testing. • Review, interpret, and initiate genetic test results in conjunction with clinical information. • Consult with healthcare providers to obtain necessary clinical information for test interpretation. • Recommend additional testing or genetic counseling when appropriate.
