Laboratory Systems Specialist

Laboratory Systems Specialist Job Description Laboratory System Specialist performs functions of the Laboratory (LIS), laboratory middleware, laboratory automation and Atlas Labworks in accordance with regulatory and hospital guidelines as needed to keep systems current and or upgraded including training, interfacing, implementation, system upgrade testing, maintenance and security of systems; Maintains knowledge of policies, procedures, and business operations in a laboratory setting; Participates in regular day-to-day communication with other project teams. Participates in the development of workflows, data collection and analysis, reporting and other technical issues associated with the use of the laboratory software. Participates in developing and documenting procedures and ensures laboratory information systems meet the standards set for regulatory compliance. Qualified individuals must have an associate’s degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or Information Technology. Prefer working knowledge of laboratory functions, and minimum of two years’ experience. Department: Lab Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours a week required Shift: 1st Shift Required: Associate degree Preferred: ASCP Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or ASCP - Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Pay: Based on experience, starting at $32.10/hour Responsibilities Assures all systems and interfaces are functioning and properly maintained., Coordinates new clinical projects including implementation, training, and support., Coordinates the training of staff in department procedures, quality assurance and lab applications., Develops and edits department policies, procedures and protocols., Ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures, as well as, regulatory requirements., Ensures timely response to customer inquiries, and provides problem resolution., Maintains clinical competency., Maintains contact with nursing departments, physicians and other hospital areas for collaborative activities., Maintains inventory and orders appropriate supplies., Maintains laboratory results reporting system and billing functions, and maintains dictionaries for Laboratory systems., Maintains standards for Joint Commission., Participates in continuing education programs., Prepares incident reports and other reports of unusual occurrences, testing results or instrument malfunctions., Prepares required statistical reports for Quality Management, hospital committees and Administrative use., Provides new client orientation with lab system implementation, training, and support., Seeks opportunities to improve department performance and productivity., Supports Outreach information system (Reference Lab application.)
