Lead Energy Consultant - EMV
About the position The Lead Energy Consultant will support our demand-side management teams on the delivery of residential energy efficiency programs in New Jersey. The Lead Energy Consultant will work closely with a cross-functional team of program implementation, Operations, IT, and reporting personnel. This position will actively participate in measure updates, data calls, and EM&V working groups, as well as lead discussions with the utility client and coordinate with the utility evaluator as directed. The position also supports the analysis of independent, third-party evaluations and is critical in assisting the design, administration, and evaluation of energy efficiency programs. Responsibilities • Solve quantitative and qualitative problems, including the implementation of energy savings calculations based on Technical Reference Manuals (TRM) or similar regulations/protocols • Track and support recurring energy measure calculation updates • Provide technical guidance to program managers, IT teams, and clients regarding technical requirements pertaining to energy calculations (and energy modeling) • Help maintain program databases, incorporating fixes and enhancements and performing periodic reviews for data consistency and accuracy • Review reports and presentations by third-party evaluators • Contribute to and coordinate responses to data requests from utilities and third-party evaluators and support internal data requests • Engage with program team, client, and evaluators to discuss methodology and program adjustments to mitigate any risks associated with unexpected program evaluations • Investigate emerging energy efficient or alternative energy technologies and relevant program delivery strategies if needed • Assist with the interpretation and implementation of utility regulatory guidance. Requirements • Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering, Energy, Environmental Studies or related subject preferred but not required) • 5+ years of experience working in energy, sustainability, project coordination, or similar • Experience with standard EM&V protocols (IMPVP) and energy savings calculation methodologies • Experience with using TRMs and supervising the development of tools that utilize deemed savings methodologies preferred • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and exercise independent judgment • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, and recommend solutions • Ability to carry out oral and written instructions thoroughly • Excellent written and oral communications • Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders in both public and private settings and negotiate outcomes • Sound business ethics, including the protection of proprietary and confidential information • Interpersonal skills including courtesy, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude Nice-to-haves • Experience in the utility or energy industry preferred • Knowledge of energy efficiency measures and technology preferred • Understanding of programs promoting Demand Side Management, Energy Efficiency, and Demand Response preferred Benefits • Flexible workplace arrangements, work-life balance • Donation matching, volunteer opportunities • Tuition reimbursement, access to professional development resources • 401k matching • Employee Stock Purchase Plan Apply tot his job
