About the position This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Legal Counsel in Canada. This role offers the opportunity to act as a principal in-house legal advisor for a fast-moving, innovation-driven organization. You will provide legal guidance across a broad range of product, commercial, corporate, and compliance matters, partnering closely with engineering, operations, and cross-functional teams. The position requires balancing strategic counsel with hands-on execution, including drafting and negotiating contracts, advising on intellectual property and data privacy, and supporting global employment and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic, low-bureaucracy environment, is adaptable to emerging technologies, and can navigate complex cross-border legal issues while maintaining high integrity and professionalism. Responsibilities • Provide expert legal advice on product development, privacy, data protection, and intellectual property matters • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, vendor contracts, and technology transactions • Support compliance initiatives, counseling teams on legal and regulatory implications of proposed transactions • Advise on global employment matters, including policy development, compliance, and partnership with People teams • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external counsel to resolve cross-border legal issues • Support the General Counsel with additional legal projects, corporate governance, and organizational initiatives Requirements • 3–5 years of experience as a lawyer, combining top-tier law firm and/or in-house experience • Legally qualified to practice law in your jurisdiction • Experience in the crypto space is required; familiarity with SOC2 and GDPR compliance is a plus • Ability to handle cross-border legal issues, including working with local counsel when necessary • Strong commercial acumen and pragmatic, solution-oriented approach to legal challenges • High emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across geographies • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing complex matters with minimal supervision • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus • Strong academic credentials from a recognized institution Nice-to-haves • familiarity with SOC2 and GDPR compliance • additional languages Benefits • Competitive compensation, equity, and token package • Premium health, dental, and vision coverage • 16 weeks paid parental leave • Flexible paid time off and company-wide closure weeks • $2,000 equipment stipend and $300 monthly co-working allowance • Fully remote-first work model with optional travel to team or industry events Apply tot his job
