Process Automation Engineer / Solutions Architect - Contract to Hire

Remote Full-time
This is a boutique advisory and implementation firm built around one core mission: Help founders remove themselves as the bottleneck. The work centers on diagnosing inefficiency, designing systems, and installing automation and delegation structures that allow businesses to scale without founder dependency. Demand is coming organically from an existing network of founder-led businesses, many already doing meaningful revenue and feeling the pain of operational overload. The firm’s flagship entry point is a structured 30-day audit, followed by implementation through done-for-you, done-with-you, or guided DIY paths. What We Do Every client engagement begins with a mandatory 30-day audit: • 2 × 90-minute audit calls per week • Deep mapping of operations, sales, marketing, onboarding, finance, and customer success • Identification of automation, AI, and delegation opportunities • Quantification of time, cost, and opportunity leakage • Delivery of a prioritized 6-month execution roadmap After the audit, clients continue in one of three ways: • Done For You implementation • Done With You guidance and architecture • Structured DIY with limited support The Role This role is the technical and systems counterpart to the founder. You are the person who hears a messy business conversation and immediately starts seeing workflows, triggers, data flows, and leverage points. You will sit on audit calls, help extract the real problems beneath surface complaints, and turn ambiguity into executable systems. Roughly half your time is spent in live client sessions. The other half is spent designing, documenting, and building automations. Core Responsibilities Audit and Discovery • Join all client audit calls alongside the founder and a project manager • Ask sharp follow-up questions to uncover true bottlenecks and root causes • Identify where automation, AI, or delegation creates the highest leverage • Map current-state processes and data flows at a systems level • Quantify time savings, cost reduction, and scalability impact • Help shape a clear, prioritized 6-month implementation roadmap • Contribute to comprehensive audit documentation and scopes Architecture and Build • Design and build automation workflows using modern no-code and low-code tools • Connect CRMs, PM tools, billing systems, marketing platforms, and internal ops tools • Use APIs, webhooks, and light scripting to bridge gaps where native integrations fail • Balance speed and maintainability. Quick wins without creating future messes • Translate audit findings into working systems that actually reduce founder involvement • Create SOPs, diagrams, and clear handoff documentation • Support both done-for-you builds and done-with-you guidance Client Support and Collaboration • Partner closely with a project manager to align scope, timelines, and delivery • Provide technical clarity so expectations stay realistic and clean • Occasionally support clients asynchronously in Slack by guiding rather than over-building • Help unblock common workflows like scheduling to CRM, onboarding automations, content pipelines, and internal routing Required Experience This is not a theory role. You must have built real systems that real businesses rely on. Must-haves: • Strong hands-on experience with Make, Zapier, and n8n or similar workflow engines • Comfort working directly with APIs, webhooks, and authentication flows • Ability to write and understand basic Python or JavaScript for logic and data handling • Proven experience translating business problems into technical architectures • Client-facing experience running discovery, explaining tradeoffs, and setting expectations • Strong systems thinking. You see flows, not isolated automations • Clear written communication for SOPs and implementation guides Nice-to-haves: • Experience with tools like HubSpot, Salesforce, Monday, Stripe, QuickBooks, Google Workspace, WordPress • Background in operations, process design, or SOP creation • Experience automating onboarding, finance, reconciliation, content, or internal ops • Familiarity with AI tools, agents, or AI-augmented workflows How We Work • High autonomy. No micromanagement • Clear frameworks for audits, documentation, and delivery • Tight collaboration with the founder and project management • Constant variety. Every client is different • Systems over heroics. Clean, repeatable solutions matter Time Commitment and Growth Path Initial engagement is part-time and client-based: • Approximately 6 hours per week per active audit client • 3 hours in live calls • 2 to 3 hours in design, documentation, and architecture Typical load: • 1 client: ~6 hours/week • 2 clients: ~12 hours/week • 3 clients: ~18 hours/week As volume grows to 4–6 active clients, there is a clear path to: • Full-time employment, or • A stable, high-leverage retainer structure Who This Role Is Perfect For • You enjoy untangling complex, messy businesses • You like both talking to founders and building systems • You think in leverage, not effort • You are entrepreneurial and enjoy shaping how things are built • You are comfortable with ambiguity but value structure and ownership How to Apply Send the following: • A short introduction and what you are currently working on • 2 to 3 examples of systems or automations you’ve built with tools used • Your current availability and time zone • Your target hourly rate for the initial contract phase Apply tot his job
