We are seeking a Project Cost Controls Engineer to oversee and analyze project financials, ensuring delivery within budgetary constraints. This role involves cost estimation, budgeting, forecasting, and comprehensive financial reporting. You will work closely with project managers, schedulers, contractors, and cross-functional teams to maintain financial integrity throughout the project lifecycle. Location: Openings in Greenville and N CharlestonIndustry: EnergyDuration: Contract-to-permKey Responsibilities• Develop and maintain accurate project budgets aligned with scope and objectives.• Perform ongoing cost forecasting; identify and address potential overruns proactively. • Monitor and control project expenditures, analyze variances, and recommend corrective measures. • Prepare detailed cost reports, including:• Earned Value Analysis (EVA)• Cost Performance Index (CPI)• Budget Variance Reports• Deliver financial statements and cost summaries for stakeholders. • Evaluate financial impact of scope changes; update estimates and budgets accordingly. • Participate in change control processes and maintain proper documentation.• Review vendor and contractor agreements to ensure cost-effective procurement. • Validate and approve invoices and payment requests. • Identify cost-related risks and implement mitigation strategies. • Conduct cost risk analysis and scenario planning. • Facilitate clear communication on cost issues among all stakeholders. • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal financial policies. QualificationsEducation• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Accounting, or related field (preferred).Experience• 3–5 years of experience in project cost engineering or cost control. • Background in heavy industrial, utility, construction, or engineering sectors. Technical Proficiency• Familiarity with cost management tools such as:• SAP, Oracle ERP, JD Edwards• Oracle Primavera, MS Project, Microsoft Excel• Power BISkills• Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational ability. • Collaborative and team-focused approach.Certifications (Preferred)• AACE: CST, CCT, CCP, PSP, or EVM• PMI: Project ManagementProfessional (PMP)If this is a role that interests you and you’d like to learn more, click and a recruiter will be in touch with you to discuss this great opportunity.
