[Remote] Equity Research Associate – Alternative Data and Analytics

KeyBanc Capital Markets Inc., a division of KeyCorp, is looking for an Associate to join the Equity Research Alternative Data and Analytics team. The Associate will have the opportunity to work with research teams to create data products around various industries and companies, focusing on data engineering and data science. Responsibilities Maintain and oversee critical databases and weekly processing and distribution of datasets Develop data products and analysis derived from unstructured and structured data Enable and expand alternative data access for Equity Research groups across various sectors Create analysis from novel datasets that provide differentiated insight Manage data product lifecycle including idea generation, engineering, and analytics Create programs that collect, process, and evaluate data from various sources including internal, 3rd party, and web scraped data Manage data pipelines from internal and external sources Analyze and synthesize findings from datasets to identify trends and support the research process Regularly update and distribute alternative data across Equity Research group Monitor and understand the quality of underlying datasets collected from multiple sources Respond to inquiries from internal stakeholders regarding insights and methodology of datasets Contribute to research process by providing analysis and expertise around various data types including transactional, foot traffic, app use, etc Source novel datasets and expand current alternative data offering Perform other duties as assigned, which may evolve over time Adhere to all KeyBank policies and procedures, including professional conduct, ethical business practices, and prioritizing client interests Skills Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Finance, Accounting, or Economics Candidate should possess strong skills in Python, SQL, database management, and quantitative analysis Interest in Capital Markets and fundamental analysis Proficiency in excel and a strong academic record are required Candidate should have 1+ years of relevant experience (data science, data engineering, or data analyst) and an interest in research and the stock market Candidates will be required to complete the FINRA Series SIE, 7, 63, 86, 87 licenses Strong communications and interpersonal skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Strong excel and data manipulation skills Collaboration: Demonstrates experience in participating in productive collaborative processes that help solve business problems and meet business goals Critical Thinking:The ability to identify, obtain, and organize relevant data and ideas and prioritize concerns in the decision-making process Adaptability: Demonstrates a willingness to listen to other opinions and adjusts to new or changing assignments, processes, and people while avoiding snap reactions Analytical Thinking: Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of data and arrives at relevant conclusions; makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions Business Acumen: Demonstrates a big picture understanding of the business, its interrelationships, and priorities; demonstrates strong foundations of business fundamentals, measurement, and business finance CFA, CPA, or FINRA Series licenses is a plus Experience working with GCP/BigQuery, Azure, Postgres, or SQL Server is a plus Benefits Eligibility for incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance Company Overview At KeyBank we’ve made a promise to our clients that they will always have a champion in us.It was founded in 1849, and is headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, US, with a workforce of 10001+ employees.
