They are seeking aSenior Principal Network Engineer who will drive design, implementation, and operations of OCI’s global Internet edge, ensuring secure and high-performance connectivity for customers. Responsibilities• Redefine and modernize OCI’s Internet edge by designing high-performance, secure, and scalable systems for peering, routing, and data-plane delivery.• Build modern Internet architectures that align with industry standards such as MANRS, focusing on routing security, origin validation, and robust policy enforcement. • Drive modernization initiatives spanning hardware, routing software, and automation to ensure OCI’s Internet fabric is resilient, observable, and self-healing. • Own and drive the Internet routing, hardware, and feature roadmap from merchant-silicon platforms (e.g., Jericho, Tomahawk) to next-generation software-defined edge capabilities.• Partner with internal platform teams, hardware vendors, and open-source communities to define and execute long-term strategies for Internet routing, capacity scaling, and operational security. • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies (SRv6, EVPN, programmable data planes, AI-assisted telemetry) to keep OCI’s Internet edge at the forefront of the industry. • Engineer Internet systems that are secure by design, fault-tolerant, and compliant with MANRS routing norms and RPKI/ROV principles. • Lead routing hygiene initiatives across OCI’s global Internet presence to mitigate hijacks, leaks, and misconfiguration.• Act as a primary escalation point for systemic and large-scale operational issues in peering, routing, or security domains. • Partner with software and automation teams to deliver closed-loop, observability-driven automation that reduces manual operations and improves service availability. • Lead global service improvement initiatives, including CAPA reviews, ECARs, and network reliability programs. • Collaborate across OCI backbone, hardware, and automation teams to align technical direction and accelerate delivery of OCI’s Internet fabric strategy.• Represent Oracle in vendor engagements, industry forums, and standards discussions related to routing security, automation, and Internet interconnection. • Mentor engineers across geographies; elevate technical and operational maturity within the organization. Influence hiring, calibration, and organizational practices to raise the bar for Internet-scale engineering. Skills• 10+ years of relevant experience in large-scale Internet or cloud networking, with demonstrated ownership of business-critical systems.• BS/MS or PHD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience. • Proven expertise in at least one critical technical area, such as: Internet Routing and Control Plane Systems (BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, SR, EVPN), Physical Networking and Interconnect Fabric Architecture, High-Performance Data Plane Engineering, Network Telemetry, Observability, or Automation Platforms. • Deep understanding of Internet-scale routing, capacity planning, and resiliency design. • Proven track record of solving scale problems using software, including automation frameworks, control-plane optimization, and telemetry-driven reliability engineering.• Experience defining and executing hardware or software feature roadmaps in collaboration with vendors or internal platform teams. • Demonstrated ability to influence architecture and technical direction across multiple teams or organizations. • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to articulate technical strategy to senior leadership. • Strong understanding of routing security ecosystems and operational practices aligned with MANRS. • Active participation in Internet standards communities (IETF, NANOG, RIPE, APNIC, ARIN, LACNIC, AFRINIC) or experience presenting at global or regional Internet registry events.Benefits• Medical, dental, and vision insurance, including expert medical opinion• Short term disability and long term disability• Life insurance and AD&D• Supplemental life insurance (Employee/Spouse/Child)• Health care and dependent care Flexible Spending Accounts• Pre-tax commuter and parking benefits• 401(k) Savings and Investment Plan with company match• Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position.
