Security Architect - AI Governance

Piper Companies is seeking a Security Architect - AI Governance for a world leading technology organization based in the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina area. The ideal candidate for the Security Architect - AI Governance will have deep experience in cybersecurity architecture and a strong understanding of AI governance frameworks, compliance, and risk management in cloud-based environments. The Security Architect - AI Governance role is remote or onsite in RTP, NC. Responsibilities for the Security Architect - AI Governance include:• Design and implement secure cloud-native architectures with a focus on AI/ML systems• Develop and enforce AI governance policies including model risk management, data privacy, and ethical AI use• Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for AI-driven applications• Collaborate with engineering, data science, and legal teams to ensure compliance with global AI regulations (e.g., EU AI Act, NIST AI RMF)• Lead security reviews and audits of AI systems and infrastructure• Mentor teams on secure development practices and responsible AI principlesRequirements for the Security Architect - AI Governance include:• 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity architecture, including work with AI/ML systems• Strong background in cloud security (AWS, Azure, or GCP)• Experience implementing AI governance frameworks or model risk management strategies• Familiarity with regulatory standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2, and emerging AI legislation• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related fieldCompensation for the Security Architect - AI Governance:• $145,000-$190,000 annually• Full comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO, and sick leave as required by law• This job opens for applications on August 22, 2025.Applications will be accepted for at least 30 days from the posting date.
