As aSenior Commercial Credit Analyst, you'll have the chance to assist in the design and implementation of Member Business Loans and other strategic loan initiatives as well as portfolio management and risk assessments.Do you have what it takes? Responsibilities• May interact with borrowers, lead lender, or other appropriate sources, in the gathering of application, personal financial information (PFI), loan documents, bank and asset statements, taxes, additional financials, 3rd party reports, and statements tied to collateral for review. • Review borrower applications and loan packages to help structure transactions in a manner that allows the credit union to lend within its policies, while minimizing credit risk.• Communicate directly with clientele in a professional manner, building rapport via phone, email, and in-person conversations. • Research, reviews, analyze, and approve appraisals, property inspections, environmental reports as necessary. • Prepare a thorough borrower/business financial and personal cash flow spreads, surfacing risk as appropriate. Recommend risk rating adjustments as necessary. • Analysis will require a high degree of complexity and require the drafting an analysis of borrower(s) character, financial reports, explanations, and key ratios.• Conduct key financial ratio analysis with borrower(s) capacity, liquidity, operating, collateral, and leverage. • Document comparisons of potential loan to borrowers with its market conditions such as liquidity, profitability, credit and historic business experience and trends, collateral, economic conditions, competition, along with similar industry, size and geographic location. • Compose various credit requests for approval in a narrative format, including results of credit analysis and a summary of loan requirements and recommendation.Actively participate in Business Loan Committee presentation. • Organize and lead the work and cross-training of other credit analyst, as necessary. Review work of other credit analyst, as appropriate, prior to submission for credit review. • Monitor and review commercial loans/participations, interacting and communicating with lead lender credit unions, internal finance and financial solutions teams. • Assist with loan portfolio monitoring, including periodic loan reviews, asset quality rating upgrades and downgrades in risk ratings, and credit modifications if necessary.• Compose and track periodic loan reviews of commercial loans and participations as required (e.g. property inspections, updated insurance, spread of financials, rent rolls, and additional loan covenant requirements), ensuring accuracy and completeness of each credit. • Compose annual lead lenders (participants) report conducting a due diligence review of the most recent internal audit of commercial loans, business continuity/disaster recovery, financial performance, health, servicing performance and support for inquiries, updating of insurance requirements, with any additional comments or concerns of the relationships.• Provides proactive loan status updates and communicates to its members, participating credit unions, or other interested parties in resolving discrepancies and problems to minimize turn time while thoroughly documenting credit requests; providing periodic reports and ensure quality of member service throughout the loan or participation process. • Plan and execute multiple projects along with ongoing initiatives while balancing department and organizational demands of resources. • Participate in the updating of policies, procedures and guidelines.Lead responses and implementation of changes. • Use personal judgement from skill and experience to recommend changes to programs• Manage and track workflow priorities of the department. • Assist loan officers with loan application and approval process. • Conduct real estate inspection as needed. • Deliver timely and accurate information for decision making. • Participate in internal audits and regulatory examinations. Qualifications• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Real Estate or related field required; equivalent combination of education and experience (5+ years) is acceptable with an associate degree in a related field.• Minimum 3 Years + experience underwriting commercial lending required. • Strong understanding of commercial loans with credit unions, NCUA and interagency regulations. • Must be analytical, organized and be creatively-minded (thinking 'outside the box'). Skills of persuasion are necessary for this role. Must be able to communicate effectively throughout the organization. • Ability to draw upon experience in analyzing financial data and interpreting risk. Provide a narrative summary of research, evidencing of reports, character of risks and mitigates, financial reviews and identify any additional concerns with integrity.• Very strong capabilities in Microsoft Excel is preferred. Familiarity with relevant software, such as Microsoft Office Suite and other core commercial loan platforms for managing financial spreads, loan, periodic reviews, and servicing. • This job will have supervisory responsibilities managing junior credit analyst and will interact with other supervisors of interrelated departments that require the development and implementation of strategic projects and supporting all Capital Markets functions.• Due to the nature of the job responsibilities the employee must have a valid driver's license and be able to travel as necessary. Overnight travel may be required. • Must have reliable transportation. Ability to travel when necessary to meet with members or related business relationships with credit unions.
