Responsibilities• Manage the end-to-end machine learning lifecycle: data collection, preprocessing, model development, deployment, evaluation, and monitoring.• Experienced in advanced search algorithm and stack, good knowledge on LLM-based search applications and agentic search. • Research and implement novel ML techniques to improve performance, scalability, and robustness of recommendation systems and other AI/ML models. • Mentor and coach team members on best practices, code quality, design patterns, testing, debugging, and documentation. • Hire, onboard, and retain top talent; foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence. • Communicate effectively with internal and external partners; present technical concepts and results clearly; solicit feedback from stakeholders.Qualifications• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. • 5+ years of experience managing ML engineering teams running core services at scale. • Proven track record of building and scaling ML models in business applications using large datasets. • Ability to communicate and explain data science concepts to diverse audiences. • Focus on business practicality and the 80/20 rule; high bar for output quality, but pragmatic about delivery. • Agile development mindset, with appreciation for constant iteration and improvementCompensationAt Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs.To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:Zone A: $232,200 - $303,150Zone B: $209,700 - $273,775Zone C: $193,500 - $252,625This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.Please visit go.atlassian.com/payzones for more information on which locations are included in each of our geographic pay zones.
