EVA is authorized by the North Bend School District and accredited through Cognia. Job Summary The Student Engagement Coach serves as the main connection from the student and Learning Coach to the school starting during enrollment and throughout the school year. The role helps foster a high touch approach to support and exhibits a commitment and desire to provide the best experience possible for students and families. Student Engagement Coaches empower students to stay on track with their schooling and facilitate engagement in school activities. Clerical/Administrative Duties: • Manages a caseload of about 200 students and actively monitors their engagement in school using attendance, log in, participation, and course data. • Oversees the onboarding process for assigned students and their Learning Coaches. • Leads and participates in online orientation sessions for students. • Serves as a single point of contact for all non-instructional issues after placement, ensuring students have all necessary equipment and know both how and when to access their courses. • Tracks daily attendance, excused/unexcused absences, truancy, and travel requests of students and records information in the proper systems. • Employs intervention strategies and communication for students who struggle with attendance/truancy and overall engagement. • Coordinates with school resources and team to deliver Learning Coach engagement and skill building opportunities. • Contacts late starting or missing students by phone, text, and/or email working quickly to ensure a strong start at the school. • Assists with first week of school activities and sessions. • Facilitates regular virtual, social, engagement opportunities for students. • Helps facilitate Social Emotional Learning opportunities for students. • Creates engagement opportunities for students by assisting with planning and staffing virtual field trips and in-person events. • Serves as a liaison between students and/or Learning Coaches and teachers and/or administration. • Regularly monitor engagement and overall schooling activity of students on their caseload. • Initiates larger student support interventions if a student begins showing signs of disengagement. • Arrange support conferences as needed to address engagement concerns. • Assists students and learning coaches with support strategies to get back on track with engagement, schooling, and communicate support strategies to appropriate EVA staff. • Increases professional knowledge and skills by attending required staff meetings and participating in school sponsored Professional Development activities. • Provides community resource referrals for students and families in need, to school personnel and works with other school personnel for additional help/outreach. • Coordinates services for students on their caseload needing internet support through a school provided Wi-Fi device. • Assists with re-registration and retention efforts during the school year. • Supports collection of required enrollment documents throughout the school year to ensure that all required documents are complete. • Reaches out to prospective students to answer questions about the school and programs we offer as needed. • Hosts online information sessions for prospective students as needed. • Assists with in-year and summer marketing events to increase outreach and potential enrollment. • Utilizes a variety of word processing, database, presentation, webpage, spreadsheet, email, internet, intranet, and other software and tools. • Other related duties as assigned. Communication and Relationship Building:? • Maintains positive rapport with families and students they aid. • Works collaboratively with other staff members across grade levels and departments. • Responds to students, parents, and colleagues in a timely manner. • Responds and works with other schools, districts, and government agencies. • Fulfills mandatory reporting requirements and follows FERPA guidelines. Supervisory Responsibilities • None Qualifications Minimum Required Qualifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent AND • Two years of related experience and/or training OR • Equivalent combination of education/training and experience • Ability to clear required background check Certificates and Licenses: • None Other Desired Qualifications: • Associate’s degree (AA) or Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) preferred • Experience working in schools, charter schools, and/or school districts. • Experience working in virtual schools or online business settings. Physical/Mental Demands The employee is required to possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Human relations and communication skills are necessary to handle frequent personal and telephone inquiries received from students/families, administrators, teachers, classified employees, and others. Work requests are often received which require immediate attention setting up conflicting priorities for timely response. Sound judgment and a pleasant attitude are in stressful situations.
