Temporary Health Surveillance Specialist - Public Health - State of Nebraska - Nebraska - Centennial, CO - work from home jobCompany: State of NebraskaJob description: Description• Temporary One Year Assignment*• Remote Work Option Available* DHHS Public Health is seeking a temporary Health Surveillance Specialist to support epidemiology and surveillance programs for the State of Nebraska. Location: Home office located in Nebraska State Office Building, 301 Centennial Mall South, LincolnSchedule: Typically M-F 8-5, some weekends may be requiredExamples of WorkPrimary duties will consist of supporting public health epidemiology and surveillance programs by:-Collecting, analyzing, validating, and evaluating data related to environmental and occupational injuries and illnesses;-Conduct investigation and/or follow-up of occupational and environmental-related illnesses, injuries, and poisonings;-Compile annual health/disease reports;-Develop and implement surveillance programs for environmental and occupational health;-Assess the existence, prevalence, prognosis, trends, and potential impact on various health/disease issues;-Prepare periodic reports and presentations on injuries and illnesses, including manuscripts for publication and summary reports of data sets.Qualifications / RequirementsREQUIREMENTS: Bachelors Degree in Public Health, Statistics, or Health Education and several years of experience in data analysis, statistics, and interpretation of epidemiological data in the relevant disease/health subject area. PREFERRED: Bachelors Degree in Science, Health Education, other related field with additional coursework in Public Health. 1-2 years of experience in data analysis, statistics, and interpretation of epidemiological data in the relevant to public health surveillance and epidemiology.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesKnowledge of: epidemiological research practices and procedures for the collection, analysis, evaluation, and validation of health/disease data sets; descriptive statistics, statistical inference, and statistical theory; public health principles and health care delivery systems.
