Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President of Data Science to lead our organization’s data-driven initiatives. The ideal candidate will oversee the development and implementation of advanced analytics, machine learning models, and AI solutions to drive business growth and innovation. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of big data technologies, data mining, and model deployment, along with strong expertise in cloud platforms like AWS and frameworks such as TensorFlow.The VP of Data Science will collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape data strategies, foster a culture of analytics excellence, and ensure scalable, efficient data solutions. Duties• Lead the design, development, and deployment of machine learning models using frameworks such as TensorFlow and other AI tools. • Oversee the architecture of big data systems utilizing Hadoop, Spark, and ETL processes with Talend or similar tools. • Manage data mining activities to extract actionable insights from large datasets, including linked data and natural language processing applications.• Develop scalable database designs and optimize SQL queries for analytics purposes. • Guide the team in model training, validation, and deployment across cloud platforms like AWS. • Collaborate with engineering teams on integrating machine learning models into production environments using Java, Python, Bash (Unix shell), or VBA. • Drive innovation in analytics by exploring emerging technologies such as quantum engineering and advanced natural language processing techniques. • Establish best practices for model lifecycle management including monitoring, updating, and retraining models as needed.• Foster a data-centric culture by mentoring team members on machine learning frameworks, data mining techniques, and analytics tools like Looker. • Ensure compliance with data governance standards while managing large-scale datasets across various platforms. Requirements• Proven experience in leading data science teams within a corporate environment or research institution. • Extensive knowledge of machine learning algorithms including unsupervised learning, natural language processing, and model training/deployment strategies.• Strong expertise in big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, and related ETL tools like Talend. • Proficiency in programming languages including Python, R, Java, C, Bash (Unix shell), and VBA. • Hands-on experience with cloud services like AWS for deploying scalable AI solutions. • Deep understanding of database design principles along with SQL proficiency for complex querying and analytics. • Familiarity with analytics platforms such as Looker for visualization purposes. • Knowledge of machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow), SAS software suite, and AI methodologies.• Background in quantum engineering or advanced computational techniques is a plus. • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
