VP, Finance & Administration (Remote in U.S.)
HOW YOU’LL MAKE AN IMPACT As Vice President, Finance & Administration, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping advance the goals of USGBC and GBCI. In this role, you will provide leadership, strategic direction, and oversight for the financial and administrative functions across both organizations. You will serve as a key partner to the COO, Executive Team, and Board, ensuring exceptional financial management and administrative effectiveness across all global financial operations. You will develop and drive initiatives that strengthen organizational infrastructure, operational excellence, and long-term sustainability, while ensuring resources are aligned to strategic priorities and mission impact. You’ll report to the Chief Operating Officer and be part of a highly collaborative executive leadership team. You’ll work closely with Finance, Operations, Product, Technology, Legal, and senior leadership across USGBC and GBCI to drive enterprise-wide performance, scalability, and financial stewardship. Key Responsibilities • Lead and oversee all finance and accounting functions globally, fostering innovation and cross-functional collaboration to drive organizational outcomes. • Oversee alignment and optimization of financial, administrative, and operational investments to ensure impact, efficiency, and strategic partnership across the organization. • Direct annual and long-term financial and operational planning, budgeting, and forecasting in alignment with organizational strategy. • Serve as the primary finance liaison to the Board and Finance & Audit Committees for both USGBC and GBCI. • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global finance team, promoting professional growth and a diverse and inclusive workplace. • Design and implement best-in-class policies for risk management, compliance, governance, and internal controls. • Direct all audit, tax, and regulatory compliance matters, including the 990 process and board approvals. • Partner with the COO, senior leadership, and Product leaders to drive pricing strategy and successful expansion into new markets. • Provide forward-looking financial analysis, modeling, and insights to support strategic decision-making and proactively identify risks and opportunities. • Champion technology modernization, ERP evolution, process improvement, and operational excellence to ensure scalable, efficient, and reliable financial operations. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience • Minimum 15 years of progressive leadership experience in finance, accounting, and administration in complex and/or global organizations • At least 5 years leading multidisciplinary teams in multicultural, multi-currency environments with global tax, compliance, and reporting scope • Demonstrated success driving enterprise transformation, operational excellence, and large-scale process improvement • Experience leading or supporting ERP implementations strongly preferred Education • Bachelor’s degree required • Master’s degree (MBA, MPA, or equivalent) strongly preferred Technology/System(s) • Enterprise financial and ERP systems • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite • Financial planning, reporting, and modeling platforms Skills • Strategic and enterprise-level financial leadership • Executive communication and board-level presentation skills • Advanced financial analysis, modeling, and risk management • Collaborative leadership in matrixed organizations • Organizational leadership and change management Certifications • CPA or CMA strongly preferred ABOUT OUR TOTAL REWARDS PACKAGE Salary Final compensation and benefits will be confirmed at the time of offer and may vary based on factors such as internal equity, relevant experience, qualifications, and employment status. Please note that salary negotiations will not extend beyond the top of the internal salary range. You will only be responsible for the $300 individual / $600 family up front deductible for medical services before the employer funded HRA will process payments for your in-network claims • Generous paid time off (12 paid holidays, 9 paid personal sick days and based on career level either 2 to 3 weeks PTO), including operations closed for a full week between Christmas and New Year’s • 6 weeks paid renewal leave after 7 years of continuous service LOGISTICS Location: This position is open to candidates based in the U.S. and can be performed remotely or in a hybrid capacity in Washington, D.C. Preference will be given to candidates located in the D.C. area.
