Controller - Fully Remote Founder-Led Real Estate Asset Management Platform - $170k- $200k + B The Firm: A founder-led Real Estate Asset Management & Strategic Advisory Firm overseeing $1B+ in AUM and 3MM+ square feet of commercial real estate is expanding its core team. Built on strong industry relationships and institutional experience, the firm was launched within the past year and operates with a lean, entrepreneurial mindset. They are now seeking a highly experienced real estate professional to own both property-level oversight and investment-level accounting/reporting in a fast-moving environment. This is a rare opportunity to join a growing platform at an early stage and play a meaningful role in shaping infrastructure, processes, and reporting across the portfolio. The role is currently fully remote, with a strong preference for candidates within commutable distance to New York City (Midtown) for occasional in-person meetings. The Role: This is a broad, senior role combining property accounting, investment accounting, asset management support, and ownership-level reporting. You’ll serve as the financial backbone of the firm, partnering closely with ownership, property managers, and external auditors/tax providers. Ideal candidates bring deep real estate experience, thrive in lean environments, and enjoy being both strategic and hands-on. Responsibilities: • Review and oversee monthly and quarterly property management financials • Analyze balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, AR/AP, GL, and trial balances • Review debt service statements, lender waterfalls, reserve accounts, and cash tracking • Support and manage RE tax appeal refund applications • Partner with third-party property managers to ensure accurate and timely reporting • Manage investor-level financial reporting and analysis • Handle ownership entity accounting and member loan tracking • Support internal financial reporting and portfolio performance tracking • Prepare partnership financial statements for auditors and tax preparers • Coordinate audit and tax processes across third-party accountants, property managers, and ownership entities • Assist with building internal reporting frameworks and financial controls • Provide ad hoc analysis to support asset management and investment decisions Qualifications: • 8+ years of commercial real estate accounting experience, ideally in a lean or entrepreneurial environment • Strong background across both property accounting and investment/ownership-level reporting • Hands-on experience with audits, tax coordination, and partnership structures • Comfortable operating independently in a small team while owning end-to-end processes • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong accountability and attention to detail • Experience in asset management environments strongly preferred • Serious, driven, and passionate about building something from the ground up • Ability to work remotely with flexibility to attend occasional NYC meetings Base Salary: $170k- $200k plus bonus The above salary range represents Advice's good faith and reasonable estimate of the possible base compensation range at the time of posting and is not reflective of the total compensation package, which may also include benefits, equity and other non-cash incentives.
