Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and compassionate 988 Chat/Text Crisis Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis, working the 3rd shift from Friday to Sunday (6pm-2:30am CST). As a remote position, you will be part of a 24/7/365 mental health crisis/suicide prevention team, providing critical support to individuals in need. Key Responsibilities Provide telephonic or chat clinical screenings and risk assessments to individuals contacting the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) via the 988 platform. Answer crisis contacts via the chat/text platform to assess for suicide, safety, and identify appropriate community resources to meet individual needs. Conduct follow-up calls for individuals deemed moderate to high risk for suicide, ensuring their safety and well-being. Meet the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation requirements. Actively participate in ongoing supervision, training, and team meetings to enhance your skills and knowledge. Assist in administrative tasks as needed to support the team's operations. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in behavioral science, psychology, social work, or a related field, or be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. Six months to one year of related crisis experience, preferably in a mental health or suicide prevention setting. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals in crisis via chat, text, or phone. Demonstrated knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and community resources. Understanding of suicide assessments and crisis intervention techniques. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are desirable: Experience working in a remote or virtual environment, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Familiarity with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (NSPL) and the 988 platform. Knowledge of trauma-informed care principles and practices. Certification in crisis intervention, such as Crisis Intervention Training (CIT) or similar.
