As a Customer Service Assistant, you will be part of a team that is passionate about creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all patrons. **Job Summary** We are seeking an experienced and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Customer Service Assistant. In this role, you will provide systemwide support and engage with lifelong learners, assisting them in locating and discovering materials, connecting with available library services, and providing information about the library. You will also be responsible for registering customers, sorting and routing returned materials, and ensuring that the library is neat and organized. **Responsibilities** * Provides general information in person and by phone, assisting customers in locating and discovering materials, connecting with available library services, or providing information about the library, referring reference questions to the appropriate resource. * Assists customers with self-check-out machines by instructing how to charge, renew, and discharge library materials to/from customers. * Assists customers with Digital Literacy Lab. * Registers customers by issuing and updating library cards. * Sorts and routes returned materials to proper location and ensures that the library is neat and organized so customers can easily find what they need. * Performs other related duties as assigned. **Requirements** * High school diploma or G.E.D. required. * Customer Service Experience preferred. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and provide excellent customer service in a diverse and inclusive setting. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Basic computer skills and familiarity with library software and systems. **Physical and Environmental Conditions** * For most positions, work regularly requires stooping, bending, and light lifting such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds). * Some positions require moderate physical exertion, such as regularly lifting moderately heavy items (up to 40 pounds) such as crates full of books or pushing heavy (up to 100 pounds) wheeled carts full of books, on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions. * Work environment involves everyday risk or discomforts which require normal safety precautions, e.g. use of safe work place practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls. **Work Environment** * Work environment is essentially conducted in a normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature, and air conditions. * Occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal temperatures (extreme cold or heat) and air conditions due to exposure to the outdoors may be experienced. **Schedule** * Part-time position, 20 hours per week. * Schedule includes: + Monday: 9 am - 1 pm + Thursday: 5 pm - 9 pm + Friday: 2 pm - 6 pm + Saturday: 9 am - 5 pm **Benefits** * Competitive hourly rate: $14.42/hr. * Opportunities for professional growth and development. * Collaborative and inclusive work environment. * Access to training and resources to enhance your skills and knowledge. * Flexible scheduling to accommodate your needs. **How to Apply** If you are a motivated and customer-focused individual who is passionate about making a difference in your community, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
