Job Summary In this critical role, you will be responsible for executing strategies that support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product. Working closely with the Managing Director of Ocean, you will provide expert support in carrier development, pricing, analyzing carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and resolving carrier service issues. As an ocean subject matter expert, you will collaborate with sales and operations teams to drive business growth, improve competitiveness, and enhance service quality. Your expertise will be instrumental in implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and developing an ocean strategy that aligns with our business objectives. Key Responsibilities Implement and communicate strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service, while supporting adherence to our preferred network Assist in implementing pricing programs and review volume targets to ensure alignment with business objectives Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, sales teams, and operations teams to drive business growth and improve service quality Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded, and provide recommendations for improvement Collaborate with the Managing Director of Ocean, global trade lane team, sales, and operations to communicate direction and deliverables Provide direct and indirect customer contact, ensuring exceptional service and support Work closely with product, sales, and operations teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, minimizing risk exposure and enhancing service quality Assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity, submitting reports as required Manage annual budget, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets Collaborate with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will require: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience Proven experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders Business-oriented with remarkable business acumen, and strong interpersonal and leadership skills Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Advanced degree in a related field, such as logistics, supply chain management, or international business Professional certifications, such as a Certified International Freight Forwarder (CIFF) or a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) Experience working with transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics software applications Knowledge of global trade regulations, customs procedures, and compliance requirements Fluency in multiple languages, with a strong understanding of cultural nuances and international business practices Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will require a unique blend of skills and competencies, including: Strategic thinking : the ability to develop and implement strategies that drive business growth and improve competitiveness Communication and presentation : excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present complex information to internal and external stakeholders Collaboration and teamwork : a strong ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and product development Problem-solving and analysis : a strong analytical mindset, with the ability to gather and analyze data, identify trends, and develop recommendations for improvement Leadership and influencing : the ability to influence and lead others, including internal stakeholders and external partners Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At arenaflex, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
