Job Summary In this critical role, you will be responsible for executing strategies that support the growth of ocean volumes and enhance the development of the ocean product. Working closely with the Managing Director of Ocean, you will provide expert support in carrier development, pricing, analyzing carrier service, routings, carrier performance, and resolving carrier service issues. As an ocean subject matter expert, you will collaborate with sales and operations teams to drive business growth, improve competitiveness, and deliver exceptional customer service. Key Responsibilities Implement and communicate strategies to increase volumes, maximize competitiveness, and enhance service quality, while supporting adherence to the preferred network Assist in developing and implementing pricing programs, reviewing volume targets, and working with the Trade Lane Manager to enhance the effectiveness of sales and achieve account development and yield enhancement expectations Communicate internally and externally to outline strategy, market conditions, and direction, working closely with the Managing Director, Ocean, the global trade lane team, sales, and operations to deliver results Provide direct and indirect customer contact, ensuring exceptional service quality and resolving issues promptly Collaborate with product, sales, and operations teams to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, minimizing risk exposure and enhancing service quality Conduct regular service reviews to ensure agreed-upon KPIs are being met or exceeded, and assist in gathering, analyzing, and reporting information regarding performance and competitive activity Manage the annual budget, controlling, monitoring, and reporting results on a regular basis to achieve budget targets Work closely with marketing to develop external and internal communications specific to the ocean product, promoting the arenaflex brand and services Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 8 years of experience in the international freight forwarding industry, including direct ocean experience in working with ocean contracts, negotiating ocean rates, quoting ocean rates, analyzing ocean rates, and routing Prior ocean carrier experience is a plus, with a strong understanding of global trade lanes, carrier development, and operational management Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively to internal and external stakeholders Business-oriented and remarkable business acumen, with a strong focus on driving growth, improving competitiveness, and delivering exceptional customer service Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems and technologies Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Advanced degree in a related field, such as logistics, supply chain management, or business administration Professional certifications, such as a Certified Logistics, Transportation and Distribution (CLTD) or a Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designation Experience working with transportation management systems, freight forwarding software, or other logistics technologies Knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and compliance requirements Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data and develop effective solutions Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders Strong business acumen, with a focus on driving growth, improving competitiveness, and delivering exceptional customer service Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At arenaflex, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
