Fractional CPA / Senior Accountant (Part-Time, Contract)

About Us LivSmart is a fast-growing California based startup operating in the energy efficiency and rebate program space. Our business is built around performance marketing, in-field sales, and coordinating federal and statewide rebate programs. We’re preparing to expand into new markets and duplicate our California success, and we want to bring on a strong financial partner to own our accounting function as we scale. The Role We’re looking for a Fractional CPA or very senior accountant who is comfortable being both strategic and hands-on. You will own the books end-to-end while also helping us build clean financial infrastructure and tax strategy as we grow. You will manage everything from transactional accounting to monthly reporting to tax coordination and filings. Expect heavier involvement in the first 1–2 months, then steady-state fractional support. Core Responsibilities Accounting & Bookkeeping • Own full-cycle bookkeeping (QuickBooks) • Weekly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards etc. • Manage revenue recognition across marketing, sales, and install operations • Track COGS across inventory, subcontractors, permitting, and install labor • Maintain clean, audit-ready books Financial Reporting • Monthly close process • Prepare monthly financials (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) • Job / program level margin reporting • Help build KPI and management reporting for leadership Tax & Compliance • Prepare and/or file business tax returns (or fully manage filings end-to-end) • Quarterly estimates and proactive tax planning • Sales tax, payroll coordination, 1099s • Ensure we remain compliant as we expand into new states Strategic Support • Advise on structure, margins, scaling, and process improvements • Build financial systems that support growth into new markets • Partner with ownership on forecasting and decision support Who We’re Looking For • CPA strongly preferred (or EA / very senior accountant with tax authority) • 5+ years accounting experience, including small business or startup environments • Full-cycle bookkeeping • Monthly closes & financial reporting • Business tax filings & planning • Comfortable being hands-on (this is not a controller-only role) • Experience with service businesses, subcontractor models, or project-based accounting is a big plus • Experience with multi-state operations is a plus • Clear communicator who can work directly with founders Time & Compensation • Up to 50 hours per month (with flexibility) • More time may be required during onboarding/cleanup • Ongoing steady-state expected to be lower • Contract role with potential to expand as the company grows • $60–$80/hour depending on experience www.livsmart.pro Job Type: Part-time Pay: $60.00 - $80.00 per hour Expected hours: 20 per week Benefits: • Flexible schedule • Work from home Work Location: Remote Apply tot his job
