Freelance Knowledge Base & Documentation Specialist (Contract / Remote)
We are looking for experienced freelance Knowledge Base & Documentation Specialists or Agencies who want to collaborate on upcoming documentation, product guidance, and support content initiatives across different teams and products. You will work closely with our customers on their projects, focused on structuring, writing, and improving their internal and external documentation ecosystems. This contractor role is designed for people who combine technical writing skills, system thinking, and an ability to turn messy information into clear, usable guidance.It is not for basic blog writing or surface-level help articles. We maintain a growing network of vetted experts, and selected freelancers may be invited to contribute to specific briefs depending on experience, availability, and project requirements. Profiles that match active needs may also gain additional visibility within our ecosystem, supporting future collaboration opportunities as new requests come in. What you will work on• Structuring or improving Knowledge Bases, internal wikis, and public help centers• Creating or refining product documentation, SOPs, and how-to guides• Writing API or developer documentation with clear examples and consistent terminology• Building documentation hierarchies, navigation, and content models• Producing release notes, changelogs, and update summaries• Setting up or optimizing tools such as Confluence, Notion, Gitbook, Readme, or Document360• Standardizing formatting, version control, workflows, and documentation guidelines• Translating technical input from product/engineering/support teams into clear user-facing documentation• Identifying gaps, outdated workflows, and inconsistencies in existing documentation systemsWhat we are looking for• Proven experience in technical writing, documentation, knowledge management, or product support• Hands-on expertise with at least one major documentation platform (Confluence, Gitbook, Readme, Notion, Document360, or similar)• Ability to interview subject-matter experts and extract accurate, structured information without handholding• Experience creating SOPs, KB articles, onboarding guides, or developer-facing documentation• Strong understanding of content hierarchy, UX writing principles, and documentation standards• Ability to organize ambiguous, fragmented information into a clean and navigable system• Clear written communication; concise, consistent, and technically accurate writing• Bonus: understanding of API concepts, version control (Git), AI-assisted documentation tools, or multi-language documentation workflowsContract & Collaboration• 100%Remote (Worldwide)• Project-based / Contractor / Freelancer• Flexible involvement depending on fit with active briefs• No long-term commitment required• Selected applicants may be contacted for upcoming documentation or knowledge system projects and will be added to our expert roster for potential visibility as new needs ariseApplyIf you would like to be considered for future Knowledge Base & Documentation collaborations, apply using the provided link.We review all submissions and will reach out if your profile aligns with current requirements.
