Freelance Social Media Analyst & Insight Interpreter

We’re looking for a highly skilled freelance Social Media Analyst to support our marketing agency with ongoing monthly reporting and insight interpretation across multiple client accounts. If you’re someone who enjoys turning numbers into meaning, spotting trends early, and shaping strategic decisions based on data, you’ll enjoy this role. This is a freelance position working remotely with flexible hours as long as deadlines are consistently met. About the RoleYou’ll be responsible for analysing social media performance across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for five separate clients and producing clear, well-structured monthly reports.These reports will not only include data, but also strategic interpretation, insights, and recommendations that feed directly into our internal and client strategy sessions. This role is ideal for someone who understands that analytics is more than reporting numbers. You’ll help influence what happens next. Key Responsibilities:Produce five monthly consolidated performance reports, one per client. Collect and analyse performance data from Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Create clear visual summaries (charts, tables, graphs) where helpful.Interpret what the data means, including:Monthly performance analysisPlatform-specific behaviour differencesTrend spotting and audience behaviour insightsOpportunities for growth and improvementUnderperforming areas requiring attentionProvide actionable recommendations aligned with next month’s goals. Ensure consistency in tone, formatting, and structure across all reporting. Attend (if required) a short monthly debrief with the internal team to align reporting with upcoming content goals. What the Reports Must Include:Each client report should be a single streamlined document covering:Audience growth and engagement trendsContent performance breakdown across all platformsPaid vs organic insights (where applicable)Competitor or industry benchmark observations (where possible)Clear ‘what this means’ narrativeBullet-pointed next-step recommendationsRaw data alone is not enough — we are looking for insight, interpretation, and strategic direction.Required Skills &Experience:Proven experience in social media analytics and reportingStrong understanding of Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn performance metricsAbility to translate numbers into strategy and narrative (data storytelling)Comfortable presenting insights and recommendationsExcellent written communication skillsReliable, deadline-driven, and organisedTechnical Expertise (Ideal)Meta Business SuiteLinkedIn AnalyticsInstagram InsightsGoogle Looker Studio, Metricool, Sprout, Later or similar reporting toolsStrong Excel, Google Sheets, or dashboard capabilityQualificationsWe’re open and flexible, but the ideal candidate will have:Background in digital marketing, communications, analytics, or a related fieldMinimum 3 years experience in social media analysisPortfolio or sample report requiredTimeline & WorkflowReports delivered once per month.Preferred delivery window: 27th of each month. Expected workload will grow as processes streamline. Compensation:Paid on a monthly retainer basis, covering all five client reports and insight interpretation. Final rate will depend on experience and demonstrated capability.
