About the position The Accounting Specialist position is a part-time role focused on managing accounts receivable and cashiering duties for the Veterinary Health Center at Kansas State University. The specialist will evaluate client accounts, process payments, reconcile cash drawers, and assist clients with their account needs. This role requires direct interaction with clients, addressing payment issues and ensuring accurate financial transactions, all while providing exceptional customer service during evening and weekend shifts. Responsibilities Evaluate patient accounts to ensure all transactions have posted correctly. , Accept payments from clients via cash, credit card, check, or CareCredit. , Calculate and return change as required by the payment method. , Maintain adequate change denominations in the cash drawer and request additional change as needed. , Reconcile cash drawers and sales receipts at required points and at the end of shifts. , Review and correct the Daily Payment Report (DYPY) as needed. , Communicate with clients sensitively, addressing their questions and concerns regarding payments and policies. , Work with the manager to resolve client payment problems and credit issues. , Monitor client account details for non-payments and delayed payments. , Research and resolve client queries as necessary. , Track and collaborate with the Business Manager on outstanding payment issues. , Follow established procedures for processing receipts and collections activity. , Assist with the monthly generation and distribution of client invoices and statements as needed. , Communicate with clients regarding past due balances and document interactions. Requirements High school diploma , 6 months of relevant experience Nice-to-haves Bachelor's degree in business or related field , 2-3 years of experience in cashiering or accounts receivable , Ability to calculate sales and change quickly , Accountability and accuracy in reconciling sales receipts , Oriented toward serving others and helping clients , Exceptional client-service skills , Excellent verbal communication , Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment , Attention to detail , Knowledge of point-of-sale systems Benefits Health insurance , Life insurance , Retirement plans , Paid time off - vacation, sick, and holidays Apply Job!
