About the Role of a Police Officer Recruit/Trainee

• Participate in specialized details such as patrol, K-9, motor detail, SWAT, detectives, vice and narcotics, and field training officer

Essential Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications:

• High school graduation or equivalent (a California high school equivalency certificate or GED is acceptable)
• Valid California Driver's License
• 20/50 corrected to 20/20 vision in each eye, with normal color perception
• At least 21 years of age at the time of application
• United States citizen or resident alien who has applied for citizenship one year prior to filing for the position
• Good physical condition and free from disability or defects, with height and weight in proper proportion

Preferred Qualifications:

While not required, the following preferred qualifications are highly desirable:

• College degree or higher in a related field such as criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field
• Prior law enforcement experience or military service
