Job Overview We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Long-Term Substitute Teacher - Art to join our team. As a Long-Term Substitute Teacher - Art, you will play a vital role in facilitating learning, academic achievement, and personal development by providing instruction to students. You will be responsible for developing and implementing curriculum and lesson plans, utilizing technology to facilitate learning, and demonstrating an understanding of the varying learning styles and needs of a diverse student population. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement curriculum and lesson plans that cater to the needs of a diverse student population Utilize technology to facilitate learning and engage students in the artistic process Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to promote academic achievement and personal growth Maintain a safe and supportive classroom environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, and respect for others Collaborate with colleagues and other school staff to develop and implement school-wide initiatives and programs Participate in staff development and professional growth activities to stay current with best practices and technologies in art education Essential Qualifications Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an Elementary Education K-3 or K-9 Endorsement registered in Lake County Illinois substitute license or Illinois teaching license registered in Lake County Considerable knowledge of core curriculum areas, including art and art history Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues Ability to adapt teaching styles to diverse student populations and learning styles Strong organizational and classroom management skills, with the ability to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching art in a school setting, with a focus on elementary or middle school students Knowledge of educational technology, including digital art software and online resources Experience with project-based learning and arts integration Ability to speak multiple languages, with a focus on languages spoken by our student population Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including special education and English language learners Skills and Competencies Strong knowledge of art history, theory, and criticism Excellent teaching and communication skills, with the ability to engage students and promote academic achievement Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with colleagues and other school staff Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, with a focus on flexibility and creativity Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Round Lake Area Schools, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our educators.
