Job Overview As a Senior Data Scientist at Google, you will be responsible for evaluating and improving Google's products by applying scientific rigor and statistical techniques to the challenges of product creation, development, and enhancement. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and define business or product questions to answer, and provide feedback to refine and interpret business inquiries into manageable analysis, assessment metrics, or numerical models Utilize custom data systems or existing data models to design and evaluate models that numerically communicate and solve defined problems with limited precedent Gather information, business objectives, needs, and organizational context around the questions to address, as well as the current and future data infrastructure Own the process of gathering, extracting, and aggregating data across sources via relevant tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python), and independently design, re-structure, or validate data to ensure quality and prepare it for analysis Develop and maintain complex data models, and communicate insights and recommendations to stakeholders through clear and concise reports and presentations Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics At least 1 year of work experience using analysis to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or 3 years of work experience with a PhD degree Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R, or SQL, and experience with data modeling and machine learning algorithms Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Preferred Qualifications Preferred candidates will have: 3 years of work experience using analysis to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases or statistical analysis, or 6 years of work experience with a PhD degree Advanced degrees in quantitative fields such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Economics Experience working with large datasets, and expertise in data visualization and communication Strong business acumen and understanding of the technology industry, with the ability to drive business growth and inform product decisions Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you should possess: Technical skills : proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL, and experience with data modeling and machine learning algorithms Analytical skills : ability to collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets, and develop insights and recommendations Communication skills : excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders Collaboration skills : ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, and build strong relationships with cross-functional teams Business acumen : understanding of the technology industry, and ability to drive business growth and inform product decisions Career Growth and Learning Benefits At Google, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
