About the Role As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. We're looking for individuals with a passion for education and a commitment to putting students first. You'll be supported every step of the way by our dedicated team, including a Scoot consultant who will help you develop your skills and provide guidance throughout your subbing journey. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher Develop and implement lesson plans, as needed, to ensure continuity of learning Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment Communicate effectively with school staff, including teachers, administrators, and other support personnel Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills Essential Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits NJ Substitute Credential Background check & TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this!) Full COVID-19 vaccination Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor A passion for education and putting students first An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role Experience working with diverse student populations, including those with special needs Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies Skills and Competencies To succeed as a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll need: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills The ability to think critically and adapt to changing situations A strong understanding of educational principles and practices The ability to manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Scoot Education, we're committed to helping our substitutes grow and develop in their careers.
