As a Title 1 Paraprofessional in our Special Programs, you will play a vital role in supporting students with diverse needs and helping them achieve their full potential. Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Title 1 Paraprofessional to join our Special Programs team at a Title I designated school in Thornton, CO. As a paraprofessional, you will provide individualized support to students with special needs, assisting them with academic, social, and functional life skills. This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students and contribute to our district's mission of excellence. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one support to students in Specialized Programs, including academic support, behavior monitoring, and functional life skills development. Assist students with daily routines, such as getting to and from class and bus stops, using toilets, diapering, feeding, medical needs, and personal hygiene. Implement specialized therapy programs and work directly with therapists on physical progress and Individualized Education Plans (IEP). Support behavior plan implementation and utilize CPI (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention) techniques and safety monitoring. Sanitize, disinfect, and clean the learning environment and general work area of all bodily fluids. Facilitate and encourage speech and language development through the use of alternate communication systems, such as sign language or voice-activated computer systems. Assist instructor with related paperwork and perform other job-related duties as assigned. Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be a minimum of 18 years old. Meet one of the following requirements: AA or 2-year college degree. Completion of 48 college semester hours. Passing of state CDE-approved paraprofessional examination. Complete Personal Commitment Plan to meet requirements within a defined timeline. Willing to work with students receiving special education services (training opportunities provided). Preferred Qualifications: CPR and First Aid certifications. Universal Precautions training. CPI/Safety Care training certification. Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work with students with diverse needs and abilities. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
