About the position The University of Rochester is seeking a Finance Analyst to conduct specialized and complex analysis of financial data to support various finance functions within the university. This role involves creating tools for managing financial and operational activities, preparing budgets, and performing financial reporting and analysis. The Finance Analyst will ensure compliance with accounting principles and maintain the fiscal position of the department's accounts. Responsibilities Conduct specialized and complex analysis of financial data in support of University Finance functions. , Identify and research material variances by collaborating with University personnel. , Review and evaluate University accounting policies for efficiency and compliance with GAAP. , Create tools to manage department financial and operational activities through programming. , Assist with preparation of operating and capital budgets and perform financial reporting and analysis. , Monitor the fiscal position of the Department's chart of accounts. , Analyze and interpret data, statistics, and financial information to identify significant differences. , Reconcile SMD's main operating and capital accounts monthly and investigate unknown transactions. , Track SMD's Research strategic plan by preparing monthly P&L and managing accounts. , Assist with financial reporting in the Shared Resource Labs, including invoicing and budgeting. , Perform analysis and tests to ascertain the integrity of accounting data and account balances. , Provide approval for first-level transactions affecting SMD and guide corrections as necessary. , Assist with administration of sponsored program receivables and maximizing clinical trial revenue. , Support departments with Pre-Award & Post-Award grant management and grant out of Award tasks. , Assume responsibility for special projects involving research and planning. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting required. , Minimum 4 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. , Strong analytical and organizational skills with keen attention to detail. , Positive customer service attitude with strong communication skills. , Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook & Zoom software. , Experience with UR accounting and payroll procedures strongly preferred. , CLASP certification required within one year of start date preferred.
