The Frontend Design Engineer (3D Creation) role focuses on building a browser-based platform that allows users to generate and edit interactive 3D content using AI-powered tools.
Responsibilities
- Build and enhance a browser-based 3D creation platform, including scene previews, object manipulation, camera controls, material and lighting adjustments, and editing capabilities such as undo/redo
- Develop intuitive workflows that allow users to generate, refine, remix, and edit 3D content through natural language interactions
- Create high-performance browser-based rendering and interaction systems using React, Three.js, WebGL, and React Three Fiber
- Integrate AI-driven asset generation pipelines, including text-to-3D and image-to-3D technologies
- Ensure generated assets are editable, reusable, persistent, and seamlessly integrated into the application's state management system
- Optimize rendering performance, model loading, memory utilization, and cross-platform experiences, including mobile and low-bandwidth environments
Skills
- Strong artistic and visual design sensibilities with the ability to assess model quality, materials, lighting, composition, and overall user experience
- Advanced experience with React and TypeScript, including building complex, high-performance web applications
- Deep expertise in Three.js, WebGL, React Three Fiber, and Drei
- Solid understanding of 3D fundamentals, including: 1) Meshes; 2) Materials and textures; 3) Lighting and cameras; 4) Animation; 5) GLB/GLTF asset formats
- Familiarity with generative 3D and multimodal AI technologies, including text-to-3D and image-to-3D workflows
- Experience delivering production-quality 3D applications, editors, creative tools, or interactive platforms
- Experience building 3D editors, game development tools, AR/VR/WebXR applications, or interactive content creation platforms
- Familiarity with tools such as Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, Spline, or PlayCanvas
- Experience with AI-powered 3D technologies such as: 1) Text-to-3D; 2) Image-to-3D; 3) NeRF; 4) Gaussian Splatting; 5) AI texture generation
- Contributions to production-grade Three.js applications, open-source projects, or creative coding initiatives
- Knowledge of 3D asset optimization techniques, including Draco compression, KTX2 textures, LOD strategies, and mesh optimization
- Understanding of modern AI-native frontend patterns, including streaming generation interfaces and asynchronous state management
