Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. AECOM is a global infrastructure leader, delivering a better world through innovative solutions. They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and oversee large-scale mechanical systems vital to water infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop large-scale mechanical systems for water infrastructure projects
- Create 3D models using Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit or other mechanical design software for use in design drawings
- Size and select hoists, actuators and associated waterworks mechanical systems
- Conduct engineering calculations and analysis to ensure structural integrity and mechanical performance according to industry standards and specifications
- Review and approve engineering drawings and vendor submittals
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Civil, Structural, and Electrical Engineers
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
- Prepare technical reports, specifications, and documentation
- Support proposal development by providing technical input
- The ability to travel a few times a year for site visits and meetings with clients
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree from an ABET accredited Mechanical Engineering university program and 6+ years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Professional Engineering licensure in the United States or ability to obtain licensure within two years
- 10+ years of mechanical engineering design related to water, infrastructure, or similar industrial mechanical equipment
- Experience with locks, dams and other large water works structures
- Ability to work independently with guidance
- Mechanical design experience of gates, hoisting mechanisms, actuators or large-scale mechanical systems
- Experience with cranes or other lifting devices
- Experience with hydraulic systems and hydraulic schematics
- Experience with large pumps, pump stations or pumping systems
- Experience with heavy steel fabrication, welding, construction and/or large-scale mechanical engineering projects
- Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit or other 3D design tools
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software and analysis methods
- Experience working in hybrid environments with multidisciplinary teams
