The Staff Accountant position involves analyzing and reporting financial data, processing business transactions, and ensuring compliance with GAAP while supporting the monthly financial close.
Responsibilities
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Participate in key areas of the monthly financial close to ensure timely and accurate reporting on financial results
- Prepare journal entries, reconcile various balance sheet and general ledger accounts
- Assists employees, vendors, clients, and/or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures and services
- Responsible for accounting functions that are part of an efficient month-end closing process, including reporting
- Properly store and manage financial data
- Regularly review bookkeeping for accuracy, provide reporting as necessary for audits
- Review and update accounting processes and procedures as needed
- Make financial recommendations
- Collaborate with accounting team as necessary
- Maintain confidential and secure storage of important financial information
- Ensure all bookkeeping is accurate and adheres to state and federal law
- Complete ad hoc projects and generate monthly reports as assigned
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
- 3+ years of progressive and operational accounting experience
- Strong Excel skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
- Operationally comfortable with GAAP
- Must be able to pass an extensive background check and drug screen
- Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication, problem solving, and analytical skills
- Ability to organize work, identify and complete critical tasks, and work independently with limited supervision
- Ability to work collaboratively with individuals from diverse backgrounds across locations and departments
- Ability to clearly articulate ideas (both written and verbal) to both internal and external customers and to listen effectively to customer needs
- Ability to develop and maintain strong workplace relationships with an emphasis on customer satisfaction
- Willingness to take on new projects or assignments
- Ability to adapt to a fast-changing environment
- Travel up to 5% of the time, some overnight travel required
- Experience with software system conversion is a plus
