Job Summary As a Special Education Certified Instructor at the Central LA Supports & Services Center, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and delivering instruction to students with disabilities in an Intensive Care Facility setting. You will work collaboratively with other educators and support staff to ensure that students receive comprehensive and individualized education, addressing their academic, communication, vocational, motor, self-help, and social needs. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver rigorous and engaging instructional experiences to students with disabilities, using a total approach that incorporates academics, communication, vocational, motor, self-help, and social subject matter. Track student progress, reflect on teaching practices, and make adjustments to ensure student academic growth and achievement. Collaborate with other educators and support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student. Provide instruction in a variety of settings, including classrooms and other educational environments. Utilize a range of teaching strategies and technologies to engage students and promote learning. Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress and communicate with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders as needed. Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in special education and to enhance teaching skills. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications: Hold a valid Special Education certification from the Louisiana Department of Education, as outlined in the Louisiana Standards for State Certification of School Personnel (Bulletin 746). Possess a strong understanding of special education principles, practices, and laws, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, guardians, and other stakeholders. Show a commitment to delivering high-quality instruction and promoting student academic growth and achievement. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working in an Intensive Care Facility or other specialized education setting. Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and technologies for students with disabilities. Experience with IEP development and implementation. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
