About the positionThe Library Consultant 14 position within the Library of Michigan is responsible for overseeing the administration of the state's virtual library, MeL, which provides resources to Michigan residents and libraries. This role involves developing program strategies, managing vendor relationships, and ensuring libraries are equipped with the necessary technology and resources to support their communities. The consultant will also lead initiatives related to emerging technologies and digital literacy, collaborating with various stakeholders to enhance library services across the state.Responsibilities• Serve as the Recognized Resource for the administration of the Library of Michigan's virtual library, MeL. • Develop the program's vision and strategies while overseeing implementation by all parties to meet program goals. • Consult with librarians, boards, and other stakeholders on library technology trends and resources. • Lead internal, statewide, and national initiatives related to technology in libraries. • Coordinate project goals with other departmental and agency programs. • Advise management and staff on statewide and national library technology issues and trends.Requirements• Bachelor's degree in library science, information science, or a related field. • Experience in library administration or management. • Strong knowledge of library technology trends and digital literacy initiatives. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Nice-to-haves• Master's degree in library science or a related field. • Experience with project management in a library setting. • Familiarity with E-rate and broadband access initiatives.
