This is an exceptional opportunity to become part of a reputable, established firm and advance your career in tax controversy.Qualifications• Extensive knowledge of IRS processes and procedures, including collections, examinations, innocent spouse, offers in compromise, appeals, advisory functions, penalty abatement, and identity theft. • Strong understanding of the Internal Revenue Manual and the ability to develop persuasive arguments using IRS policy, revenue procedures, and applicable laws. • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and a strong customer service mindset. • Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, conflict resolution, and follow-up skills.• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities in English. • Highly organized with the ability to efficiently prioritize and manage tasks. • Proficient with computers, tax preparation systems, and accounting software. • Ability to pass background and reference checks. Key Responsibilities• Manage a high-volume caseload (75-100 active cases) while maintaining accuracy and quality of work. • Represent clients with professionalism and integrity before the IRS and state taxing authorities. • Review and analyze client financials to determine appropriate resolution strategies.• Prepare professional financial reports, documentation requests, and submissions to IRS and state agencies. • Conduct research and craft strategic arguments to support clients’ positions. • Negotiate with IRS and state agencies—both by phone and in person—to secure tax resolutions. • Monitor case progress and ensure timely steps are taken to move cases toward resolution. • Maintain ongoing, proactive communication with clients about expectations, updates, and next steps. • Manage correspondence with IRS and state authorities, ensuring accuracy and compliance.• Assist clients by removing federal tax liens, wage garnishments, and levies through effective advocacy. • Maintain well-organized digital client files, notes, and task management. • Prepare clean, accurate, and organized workpapers. • Participate in regular meetings with management to review caseload, company updates, goals, and feedback. • Communicate scheduling needs in advance, including CPE or commitments affecting work hours. • Perform additional job-related duties and project tasks as assigned.• Provide exceptional service to foster long-term client relationships. Requirements• A personal cellphone with reliable service (firm provides phone app for office line). • Computer with minimum 16GB-32GB RAM and high-speed internet (at least 100 Mbps). • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on tax resolution experience. • Minimum 5+ years negotiating directly with the IRS and state agencies. • Bachelor’s degree. • Active Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA, or Attorney credential. • Strong communication and presentation skills.• Full-time employment only (no independent contractors). • Ability to work the required core hours. • Strong computer literacy.
