This position is based on-site at Hyde Park, with remote flexibility. Job SummaryThis position will serve a dual role as an Integrated Facility Design Program Director and an Operational Excellence Partner.This position reports into the Operational Excellence Department with a dotted line reporting relationship to the Facilities, Planning Design and Construction (FPDC). This person will work with FPDC to support Strategic Capital IFD initiatives and ensure standardization of adopted processes across the system. This position will also be responsible for leading targeted Continuous Improvement work related to designing and re-designing facilities and workspaces within the hospital settings, ancillary departments, as well as the off-site locations.Essential Job Functions• Leverages the expertise of all stakeholders – patients and families, hospital leaders, physicians, associates, architects, contractors, facilities and other Continuous Improvement C.I. colleagues, to achieve transformational improvements in facility design that support UCM’s organization goals. • Establishes and implements an Integrated Facility Design approach that transcends the phases of project governance, conceptual design, functional design, detailed design and standard work development.• Responsible for leading and coordinating larger scale continuous improvement work through the effective use of lean-sigma methodologies such as value stream mapping (VSM), integrated facility design (IFD), strategy/goal deployment, and/or Production Preparation Process (3P). • Collaborates with architectural design & construction teams as well as hospital staff to enhance facility planning and design development to improve clinical and support services operations. • Facilitates performance & process improvement events within critical service lines that intersect with facility design work.• Skilled in using and leading others in the use of 5S, standard work, Kaizen, value stream mapping and understanding the principles of flow/pull. • Manages IFD projects to ensure compliance with project goals and strategies to ensure the development of a physical environment that helps rather than hinders the clients ongoing Lean Process Continuous Improvement Activities. • Designs and documents process workflows developed in project events and activities. • Participates in tactical and strategic planning for continuous improvement work done in concert with the extended Operational Excellence team.• Serve as a key Performance Improvement key leader in collaborating with FPDC leadership in the FY goal setting processes as it relates to IFD advancement, targets, and benefits. • Participates in tactical and strategic planning for continuous improvement work done in concert with FPDC leadership• Develops, maintains, and revises work plans as appropriate. • Coordinates closely with Operational Excellence Partners, FPDC, Facilities Operations PMO, and external consultants to ensure that Lean workflows within the newly designed spaces are being developed with consistency and to the standards for usage in the operational workflow after occupancy.• Coaches at all levels of the organization on the habits and disciplines of a successful continuous improvement culture. • Teaches and train teams and individuals on the application of problem specific tools to support improvement activity. • Leads or co-leads the development of continuous improvement workflows within the identified new projects for all UCH facility locations. Required Qualifications• Bachelor’s Degree, master's preferred• Sustained experience, with demonstrated results, in HealthCare5+years of direct experience in lean leadership and the application of Lean change methodologies (e.g.Kaizen, 3P, 5S, Lean leader standard work, capacity analysis, labor balancing, Value Stream Leadership and application. IFD, 3P) * Must have experience designing new lines, new facilities and new products using IFD and 3P methodologies• Extensive experience with Lean management systems, tools, and methodologies• Candidate has also coached/mentored other individuals to conduct workshops independently• Travel Required• Black Belt or equivalent Lean certification and experience required• 3P training and certification a plusPosition Details• Job Type/FTE: Full Time• Shift: Days• Unit/Department: Operational Excellence• CBA Code: Non-UnionMust comply with UCMC’s COVID-19 Vaccination requirement as a condition of employment.If you have already received the vaccination, you must provide proof as part of the pre-employment process.
