OverviewQualificationsMinimumQualifications:Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, coding conventions (ICD 10 - CM/PC, CPT, and HCPCS), and CMS coding requirementsComputer proficiency, ability to research coding questions and utilize educational resources requiredLicensure/Certification/Registration:One of the following:Credentialed through American Health Information Management Association in one of the following:• Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)• Certified Coding Associate (CCA)Credentialed through American Academy ofProfessional Coders (AAPC) in one of the following:• Certified Outpatient Coder (COC, COC-A)• Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)CertifiedProfessional Coder (CPC, CPC-A)DesiredQualifications:Associate degree1 year coding experience in an acute care facilityResponsibilitiesAssigns and sequences code for complex outpatient accounts according to established regulatory guidelines, industry best practices, and IH policies and procedures.Apply tot his job
