[Remote] Principal Manufacturing Engineer - Global Contract Mfg

In this role, you will lead the Global Contract Manufacturing Platform, collaborating with internal teams and partners to ensure successful launches of new programs while optimizing manufacturing processes. Responsibilities • Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling • Design arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout • Design sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance • Adapt machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions • Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan • Inspect performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality • Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques • Provide guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques • Ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations • Identify design and process optimization opportunities to improve safety quality and cost of the product and manufacturing line • Drive team accountability for process improvement and implementation, helping to communicate the importance of process development throughout the organization • Proactively identify and call out risks and issues to relevant stakeholders; lead development and delivery of tactical and achievable mitigation and contingency planning Skills • Bachelor's degree required • Minimum of 7 years of relevant medical device manufacturing engineering experience or related field, or advanced degree with 5 years of relevant medical device manufacturing engineering experience or related field • Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills • Excellent problem solving capability • Demonstrated ability to work through influence, negotiation and partnering • Experience working with or for large contract manufacturing organizations • Test and Tester development experience, with hardware and software • Experience working on a range of scale and complexity of product from large capital equipment to small, less complex consumables • Experience working with finished goods suppliers • Experience working on new product launches from early stage design evaluation to production start • Strong understanding of launch process requirements such PDP or equivalent • Strongly preferred to have project planning skills to prioritize tasks and establish framework and systems for managing areas of responsibility • Ability to travel 35% - 55% Benefits • Health, Dental and vision insurance • Health Savings Account • Healthcare Flexible Spending Account • Life insurance • Long-term disability leave • Dependent daycare spending account • Tuition assistance/reimbursement • Simple Steps (global well-being program) • Incentive plans • 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match • Short-term disability • Paid time off • Paid holidays • Employee Stock Purchase Plan • Employee Assistance Program • Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums) • Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums) Company Overview • Medtronic is a healthcare technology company that designs and develops AI-based products and solutions for the medical industry.
