We are seeking an experienced and dynamicSenior Property Accountant to lead and manage our financial operations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in financial management, exceptional leadership abilities, and strong supervisory skills. This role is responsible for overseeing the entire accounting department, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company’s long-term goals. AsSenior Property Accountant, you will manage day-to-day financial activities, ensure accuracy in financial reporting, and drive continuous improvement in financial processes.This is a remote role with working hours from 8 AM to 4 PM EST. Mission, Scope, &Key Responsibilities of the PositionProvide strategic financial leadership by overseeing the company's accounting functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all financial operations. Drive financial stability, improve processes, and support organizational growth through strong financial oversight and reporting. Qualifications & RequirementsFinancial Reporting & Close- Oversee timely preparation of accurate financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements in compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements- Lead monthly book-closing process and balance sheet reconciliation across portfolio- Conduct financial record cleanups to maintain accurate, transparent reporting- Prepare year-end close and investor financial statements- Ensure accuracy of all financial data and systems with proactive process improvementsPortfolio Performance Analysis- Track cash-on-cash returns, IRR, debt service coverage, and key performance metrics across properties- Analyze variance between budgeted and actual performance; provide insights to senior management- Support asset management decisions with data-driven financial analysis- Manage capital expenditure tracking and approval workflowsAccounting Operations & Team- Lead and mentor accounting team, fostering professional growth and development- Oversee accounting software platforms and maintain system integrity- Manage payroll operations through Gusto platform- Interact with property managers on rent rolls, revenue reconciliation, and payables- Liaison with lenders on loan servicing and reporting requirementsCompliance & Internal Controls- Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls and policies to safeguard company assets- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax requirements, lender covenants, and applicable laws- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions- Coordinate tax compliance including franchise tax, sales tax, and other filings- Achieve 100% audit readiness with minimal findingsStrategic Financial Leadership- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management with key metrics and insights for decision-making- Support acquisitions and due diligence processes- Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes in CRE accounting and multifamily operations5+ years multifamily or CRE operational accounting experience; Strong Excel modeling and financial analysis capabilities; Proficiency with property accounting systems (AppFolio, Yardi, or similar); Payroll management and tax compliance experience; Leadership and team mentoring experience; Excellent attention to detail with ownership mentality; Clear communication of complex financial information to stakeholders.Please fill out this form for your application to be prioritized:We look forward to reviewing your application and potentially welcoming you to our team!
