About the position The Software Quality Assurance ( SQA ) Test Engineer assesses software quality through both manual and automated testing and w orks with developers, end users, and organizations to create test plans and test scripts. This position supports the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Responsibilities • Reviews and analyzes system specifications • Collaborates with Business Analysts, Test Engineers and Test Planners/Managers to develop effective test strategies, test plans, and procedures • Executes manual and automated test cases and analyzes results • Evaluates product code according to specifications • Creates logs to document testing phases and defects and confirms that requirements are verified and validated • Reports bugs and errors to development teams • Helps troubleshoot issues • Conducts post-release/post-implementation testing • Works with cross-functional teams and ensures quality throughout the software development lifecycle • Configures necessary hardware and operating environments as needed to complete assigned testing • Manages the defect database and/or logs Requirements • 5 years of manual and automation software testing experience • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field • Excellent experience developing and executing manual and automated test scripts • Excellent experience building test plans • Above average experience with the Agile methodology and sprint-based testing cycles • Above average experience identifying , documenting, and tracking software defects using bug-tracking tools (e.g., Atlassian Jira) • Above average experience creating and maintaining detailed test documentation and reports • Experience with Selenium Test • Experience working with developers and other members of a software development team • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Excellent attention to detail skills • Experience supporting a federal government department • Ability to obtain/ maintain a Federal Civilian Public Trust • U.S. Citizenship or P ermanent R esident that has lived in the United States for at least 3 years • Federal Civilian Public Trust Consists of a review of up to but not limited to: Covers 10 year period and in some instances lifetime events OPM Security Investigations Index (SII) DOD Defense Central Investigations Index (DCII) National Agency Check (NAC) records FBI name check FBI fingerprint check Credit report check Written inquiries to previous employers and references listed on the application for employment Potential interviews with the subject, spouse, neighbors, supervisor, coworkers Law enforcement check Court records check Education check- Attendance and Degrees Acceptable Credentials Nice-to-haves • Experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (preferred) Benefits • Medical, dental, vision and prescription drug coverage for you and your family. • Life Insurance, short-term disability and long-term disability paid for by the Company. • Supplemental coverages including Accident, Critical Illness, and Hospital. • Additional Life insurance coverage for you and your dependents. • 401k plan with various options to select based on your retirement goals.
