Civil Design Engineer III
Job Description: • Create site layouts and civil land development design sheet sets in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for utility-scale and commercial renewable energy projects. • Lead multiple projects or significant portions of larger projects with minimal supervision. • Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering procedures, techniques, and criteria. • Prepare project documentation, including drawings, calculations, and supporting technical materials. • Formulate and solve engineering problems related to grading, drainage, access roads, and site constraints. • Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes. • Acquire and apply advanced knowledge of renewable energy project layouts and components. • Support client interaction for multiple projects within a portfolio. • Attend project meetings and present specific aspects of engineering assignments with confidence and clarity. • Develop work plans for assigned project tasks and coordinate with discipline team members. • Assign tasks to and direct less experienced engineers and designers to complete assignments. • Provide mentoring and technical guidance to less experienced staff. Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a similar applicable engineering discipline. • 5+ years of experience in civil engineering design and drafting. • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D. • Demonstrated ability to independently apply engineering principles and solve complex problems. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Preferred Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification; Professional Engineering (PE) licensure is desirable. • Prior experience with utility-scale solar PV or energy storage system projects. • Experience preparing grading, drainage, and site access designs for large-scale developments.
