# Contract Mortgage Underwriter (Subject Matter Expert)We are seeking contract mortgage underwriters with hands-on experience reviewing and approving mortgage files. You will partner closely with our product team to shape, test, and validate a new tool designed to improve speed and accuracy in real-world mortgage workflows. ## What You’ll Do• Apply your real-world underwriting expertise to simulate authentic mortgage scenarios. • Create and curate realistic example document sets covering a wide range of borrower profiles and loan types.• Provide insight into underwriting guidelines and decision-making processes across:• Major banks• Credit unions• Government-backed programs (FHA, VA, USDA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac)• Test and provide feedback on our product to improve usability, efficiency, and compliance. ## What We’re Looking For• Direct mortgage underwriting experience. • Experience reviewing and approving loans by analyzing borrower documentation, including:• Income and employment verification• Credit reports• Bank statements• Asset documentation• Appraisals and disclosures• Knowledge of underwriting guidelines across conventional and government loan programs.• Experience working “in the weeds” of loan approval and decision-making. • Comfortable working as a contractor in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. ## Bonus Qualifications• Experience working with multiple lenders or investor guidelines. • Familiarity with underwriting automation tools or LOS systems (e.g., Encompass, Calyx). --- Apply tot his job
