Data Scientist - Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) Data Team

Overview:We are seeking a motivated individual to join our Maritime Industrial Base (MIB) Data Team as a Data Scientist. This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team supporting the acquisition of submarines and surface vessels for the US Navy. As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in developing and implementing data science solutions to analyze large and complex datasets related to supply chain networks. Responsibilities:• Develop and implement data science solutions to analyze large and complex datasets related to supply chain networks• Apply statistical methods, machine learning, and predictive modeling to identify patterns, anomalies, and potential risks• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code in Python leveraging data science libraries• Query, manipulate, and analyze structured and unstructured data from databases• Support data ingestion, processing, and visualization workflows to deliver actionable insights to government stakeholders• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of analysts, data engineers, front-end developers, and subject matter experts to deliver mission-critical solutions• Present findings through reports, dashboards, and briefings to both technical and non-technical audiences• Report progress and metrics to the Data Director and other senior stakeholders• Provide program, analytical, and acquisition management support to senior level MIB executives as required• Travel as required to carry out the duties above• * Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, or a related field plus 4 years of hands-on experience in data science, analytics, or applied machine learning• OR a Master's degree and 3 years of hands-on experience in data science, analytics, or applied machine learning• Strong proficiency in Python and core data science libraries• Experience with databases (SQL and/or NoSQL) for querying and analysis• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical insights clearly• Background or coursework in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Risk Analysis is preferred• Experience with big data tools (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, etc.) is preferred• Familiarity with government contracting or defense-related projects is preferred• Experience developing in Cloudera Data Science Workbench (CDSW) is preferred• A strong communication, facilitation, and conflict-resolution skills• Industrial Base/Supply Chain/Workforce knowledge is preferred• Experience/knowledge of the maritime industrial base is a plus, although not necessary• * Benefits:• Comprehensible benefits for full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, robust vacation and sick leave benefits, and flexible work arrangements• 401(k) plan with employer matching funds• Tuition reimbursement program• Life insurance and disability coverage• Optional coverages, including pet insurance, home and auto insurance, additional life and accident insurance, critical illness insurance, group legal, and ID theft protection• Birth, adoption, parental leave benefits• Employee Assistance Plan that includes counseling conditions• Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific contract as well as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement or the Service Contract Act Apply tot his job
