Part-Time Accounting Assistant

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Part-Time Accounting Assistant to support our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with government contracting, including FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) and Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) compliance and audit processes. Experience with Deltek Ajera and BambooHR payroll systems is a strong plus. Essential Roles and Responsibilities • Support daily accounting operations including reviewing financials, recording journal entries, and preparing reports in Deltek Ajera • Prepare month-end and quarter-end reconciliations (time off accruals, backlog burn rate, general ledger, etc) • Verify time and expense report compliance to labor distribution rules within Deltek Ajera • Assist with processing payroll using BambooHR • Assist with labor category mapping and unallowable cost segregation • Maintain documentation for FAR and DCAA compliance; support audit preparation • Prepare financial packages and certified payrolls to meet government contracting requirements • Assist with year-end tax reporting packages • Collaborate with project managers to ensure accurate job cost tracking in Deltek Ajera • Generate custom reports from Deltek Ajera for Project Managers and Leadership Requirements • 2+ years of experience in an accounting support role • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis) • Familiarity with FAR, DCAA and other government contracting audits • Experience with Deltek Ajera ERP and BambooHR (preferred) • Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in financial accuracy • Demonstrated ability to work independently, research solutions proactively, and exercise sound judgment about when to seek guidance • Take initiative and ownership, demonstrating accountability and a willingness to contribute wherever needed to support team success and company goals What We Offer • Flexible daytime schedule • Supportive and collaborative team culture • Professional development in accounting and government contracting • Paid Sick Leave in accordance with California law Work Location and Schedule This role is based in our Roseville, California office. While additional flexibility may be available over time, during the initial onboarding and training period of 3-6 months, the successful candidate will be able to work on-site for 15-25 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm.
